Is artificial grass strong enough to withstand pets?

Yes, astro turf is constructed using long life materials which are not easily damaged by for example large pet dogs claws, but still maintains a ‘soft to touch’ surface.

What happens if my pet fouls the lawn?

Artificial grass can be washed by using a bucket of water to remove any unwanted mess, the water drains through the drainage holes of the lawn, solids should be removed as you normally would on any lawns. The advantage of astro turf is that it will not stain, unlike living grass which will/can die when fouled leaving a patchy lawn.

How is artificial grass low maintenance?

As a nonliving product once laid it will quite obviously never need cutting, therefore saving the time and or expense in maintaining and treatment of lawns.

    What maintenance will be needed?

It is really quite a simple process of removing leaves every now and again to maintain appearances, this can be done using a stiff broom or light rake.

    What grass choice is there?

There are several types of artificial grass/astro turf available to suit your budget or requirements. Length of grass, feel, colour and bass padding are all optional.

    Are there size restrictions?

Artificial grass can be laid to cover virtually infinite areas and is supplied in 4 meter wide x anything up to 100 metres in length and is simply joined together using specialist glues and joining tapes.

Can you lay astro turf on hard standing bases, i.e concrete?

Yes although it is advisable that we assess the area first to ensure adequate drainage and ease of application. If the option is viable without removing the concrete base the price for installation is greatly reduced due to groundwork’s being kept to a minimum.

How do I get a soft feel lawn?

There are protective padded mats available that are installed underneath the astro turf which are available in different ratings meeting CE requirements to suit each application be it a 70 mm pad to use under play areas or a 18mm or 35mm mat to use under naturally hard surfaces. Lawns can also be filled using rubber chippings instead of silica sand and padded mats which will also provide a superb soft feel grass.

How is artificial grass fixed to the ground?

The weight of the turf is exceptional and that in itself is considered enough to keep the grass in place particularly if the grass is sand or rubber filled in turn adding further weight. We can also peg down the turf using staples and  stakes in corners or in staggered areas, these are installed undernieth the turf and are not visible above ground and only on the edges of the turf itself. Other methods of fixing include installing edging stones around the perimeter of the lawn or in specific areas which in turn also provides a neat way of edging around flower boarders and against pathways, etc.

    How long does installation take?

Installation is obviously dependent upon several attributes including size, access and ground condition. As a rough idea an area of 100 square meters with good access and requiring old turf removal, leveling, 1-2 inch sharp sand base, weed surpressor and kiln dried sand filled top dressing will take up to 5 days.

    How much will it cost?

Artificial lawn install ranges in price dependent upon chosen grass and existing ground condition. As a rough guidline prices start from £25.00 per square metre supply and install.

How is astro turf safe for children?

Installing specialised padded matting underneath the turf provides a superb protective surface, ideal under climbing frames or play areas and also suitable for use when installing artificial grass on existing hard surfaces including concrete bases, pathways and roof terraces. The addition of rubber chipping top dressed grasses enhance safety further.
