The Artficial Green, artificial grass astro turf pitches lawns sports grounds surfaces

Real Vs Artificial

What are the benefits of artificial grass over the real thing?

Artificial grass is overlooked by many as looking ‘fake’ but with today’s technology artificial grass now really does look and feel like the real thing. Advantages of using artificial grass for lawns or astro turf sports pitches are huge when compared to natural grass.

Artificial grass year round advantage!

Thanks to the way in which artificial grass surfaces are installed virtual maintenance free use can be achieved throughout the year. Good drainage properties ensure the usual water logged areas of natural grass are eradicated eliminating mud and dirt whilst the soft thick grass provides the look and character suitable in the most desirable of gardens and areas where grass never used to grow no longer a problem.

Hose pipe bans are of no concern to artificial lawns but a big problem to natural grass especially during hot weather, installation of natural lawns during hose pipe bans is not advised.

Cost comparison

At first cost of an artificial grass installation may seem quite high when compared to an installation using natural grass, maintenance time and costs are of course the opposite, here we show an example of a typical installation and expected maintenance costs for a natural lawn and artificial lawn.

Quick concluion

The above table shows that a year after installing a new natural lawn maintenace fees and general running costs will eventually begin to cost more than the original installation cost and further running costs of the artificial lawn. Eventually maintenance costs for natural lawns will cost far more than any artificial lawn.

*This table does not include costs for natural lawn treatments and fertilisers which are sometimes needed, there are no treatments required for artificial lawns unless fouled by pets which may need spraying with an odour eater to eliminate smell, usually remedied by a small bucket of water.
